South Padre Island, TX
So the next day we got up early, had breakfast at Judy B’s and headed on out to South Padre Island, or SPI for short, or the Island. We were happy to be riding the “big highway” and at the same speed.
As I mentioned before, I really enjoy crossing over the 2-mile bridge between Port Isabel and SPI. Robert has always been afraid of heights and narrow bridges so I stayed close behind to see how he was going to react. If you ask me, I don’t think he noticed he crossed over the bridge. He was so involved in the thought of riding his bike that he just breezed over the bridge from one end to the other, all two miles, without noticing it was high and narrow.
We stopped at the mandatory entrance to the Island showing a sign with the name of the city and took some pictures. We roamed around the Island from end to end until there was no more road on either end. We took tons of pictures and went back home. After we crossed the bridge for the second time, I stopped and asked Robert if he had not been afraid of crossing it. He looked back at it, looked at me and shrugged.
Once home, we washed the motorcycles, and played with the doggies for a while. I think I will train Bady to accompany me on short trips. She seemed to like the back seat and stayed there for over half an hour just enjoying being there. After washing the bikes, Beto went on his way back home to San Antonio after stopping at the Harley dealership and getting his new bike hoisted up on the bed of his truck for transportation. We said our good-byes and he left. I was left alone at the house pondering onthe thought of the bikes and why we hadn’t bought them before.
